Jonelle Awomoyi is a journalist, social media presenter, and digital culture expert at BBC News whose sharp, engaging voice sits at the intersection of journalism, internet trends, and the stories that shape how younger generations see the world.

As one of the BBC's leading digital presenters, Jonelle has been instrumental in expanding the corporation's reach across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, bringing rigorous journalism to the platforms where younger audiences actually are. She co-hosts Reliable Sauce with Kirsty and Jonelle on BBC Sounds, a podcast exploring the week's biggest stories through the lens of culture, identity, and what matters to the next generation. Jonelle has recently turned her hand to investigative journalism, spending eighteen months reporting on ICC church groups operating on university campuses for the BBC.

Beyond her broadcast work, Jonelle is a compelling speaker who has addressed audiences at the Houses of Parliament, Microsoft HQ, St James' Palace, and the United Nations headquarters in New York, which helped raise an astonishing £107,000 for youth services across the UK. In 2020, her contribution to her local community during the pandemic was honoured with a mural in London, and she was nominated for the Woman of the Year Award in 2021.

An accomplished host and facilitator for panels and conferences, Jonelle also speaks with insight and authority on digital anthropology, generational differences in the workplace, and the evolving media landscape, helping organisations understand not just how younger generations communicate, but how to reach, retain, and genuinely connect with them.

Testimonials

I wanted to thank you for Chairing the panel so brilliantly. You made them feel comfortable, creating space for them to consider their answers, brought out some really interesting insights with your follow up questions and reflections. We feel very lucky to have you as the Chair, bringing your own expertise and talent to the panel. You brought home the power of TikTok to inform, educate and challenge misinformation and not to undervalue younger audience and see the power in them as the future volunteers, donors and activists.
